Reviews of the Best Drugstore Eye Makeup

The eyes have it- and baby nothing will bring out your personal sense of style and flair more than well made up eyes.

You don't have to be a professional makeup artist to have dazzling sensational eyes. All of the tools you need can be found at your local

drugstore and are quite affordable as well.

Before we address the makeup, let's discuss some important factors to ensure your eyes are beautiful both inside and out.Remember to drink at least 64 ounces of water a day,

get plenty of sleep and exercise, take a multivitamin, and yes, eat your orange veggies, they really are good for your eyes.

Now that we have that out of the way, let's get into the fun stuff, makeup!

For creating perfect eyes you need some basic ingredients- concealer (if you are one of the many women who are plagued with dark circles under their eyes); mascara; eyelash curler; eye pencil; and eye shadow. Don't forget, concealer is applied before your foundation not after.First you will start with a clean palate; cleanse, tone,

and moisturize your face. Then you will apply concealer to under eye area (as well as any blemish spots, scars, etc.) Your next step after carefully blending in all concealer is to apply your foundation. After thoroughly blending in foundation remember to add color back to your face with bronzers/blushes. When beginning to apply makeup to the eye area

a good rule of thumb is to first curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler (if you weren't born one of the lucky long curly-eyed gals) then carefully apply your mascara. If your mascara smudges, it is much easier to fix before your eyeliner and eye shadow have been applied. After applying two coats of mascara, and don't neglect the inner and outer corners of your eye area, these

lashes often go untreated and when coated the results can be outstanding, apply your eyeliner. There are various methods for applying eyeliner which combined with your eye shape and the look you are going for vary by individual, however, do not neglect to blend or smudge your eyeliner. For the perfect look you will want to "feather" your eyeliner.I will later review eyeliners that are great for blending and feathering.

Then to complete your eyes you will choose your eye shadow. Now another simple rule of thumb to remember when putting on eye shadow is that your shadow does not have to match your clothes, you want your makeup to compliment the natural tones in your skin, eyes, and hair more than the hues which have found their

way into your latest outfit. After your eyes are finished, complete your perfect look with the lipstick of your choice, or even a neutral gloss.

Now that I have taken you on a quick overall on achieving the perfect eyes, let's get down to the nitty gritty and discuss various eye products on the market today.

To begin, let's compare concealers.

Neutrogena Skin Soothing Under Eye Corrector- this comes in a nifty pen format. You turn the dial on the bottom to dispense the concealer. It reduces dark circles and revitalizes the skin under your eyes reducing puffiness. It comes in light shades and cost is about $10.00.

Neutrogena Visibly Firm Eye Treatment Concealer with Active Copper- this is the first product to contain Active Copperâ-¢.It reduces the appearance of circle and revitalizes the under eye area. This is in a tube form; you apply three dots under the eye and blend.Price is roughly $10.00.

L'Oreal Visible Lift Eye Line Minimizing Concealer- L'oreal Visible Lift comes in a tube form. It is actually a gel cream that won't settle into fine lines and wrinkles. It comes in a variety of shades from Lightener to Medium and cost is under $10.00.

Now we'll review eyelash curlers. Here is a very important tip when it comes to curling those lashes; never ever curl your lashes after you have applied mascara. This is one sure fire way to break off your lashes. When curling your lashes carefully place the eyelash curler at the base of your lashes, squeeze the handles together and count to 5, then slowly release. Voila! Instant curly lashes which not only will keep their curl all day, but won't break off!

Revlon's Beauty Shapers Extra Curl Eyelash Curler- runs about six dollars and provides extra curl. With Revlon's extra curl they recommend curling once at the base of the lashes for five seconds, then once again at the middle of your lashes, then for extra curl, once again at the tips of your lashes.

Tweezerman SPA Super Curl Lash Curler- this curler costs about six dollars as well and totes a heated pad with blow dryer for extra curling. The pad is made of silicone so it is non-stick proof.Includes an additional refill pad.

Revlon Eyelash Curler, Professional- this curler looks more like your traditional eyelash curler, it comes with replacement pads, and says that you can use it on mascara-coated lashes. It costs fewer than five dollars.

What about false eyelashes?Great question, if you like false lashes, certainly go for them! But today, there are even alternatives for false lashes.

Tweezerman Fast Lash, Lash Lengthening Fibers is applied under your mascara.Though not recommended for sensitive eyes or contact lenses wearers it does produce dramatic results. It may take a few times to master the application, but it is well worth the effort if

you want to create dramatically long lashes!Just follow the instructions with the product, they are not that difficult and watch as the micro fiber/ polyester fiber converts your lashes before your eyes.Price is about 15.00.

Now that you have "plumped up your lashes" it is time for your mascara. When it comes to mascara there are many options available for the consumer, touch proof, smudge proof, and waterproof are a few. Did you know that brown mascara tends to make lashes look longer where black mascara makes them appear thicker? When using waterproof mascara, you will need to use an eye makeup remover (or a substance such as Vaseline or baby oil) to remove the product. Here are the top mascaras and their reviews.

Max Factor 2000 Calorie- this comes in shades such as deep auburn, soft black, and rich black. It is about six dollars and is easily removable with soap and water.

L'Oreal Lash Out Extra Lengthening Mascara- comes in colors black brown and black; cost is about $7.00, lasts all day and is removed with soap and water.

Maybelline Great Lash Washable Mascara- This comes in shades from brownish black to dark black and they even have a shade called Royal Blue.Price is about five dollars; this product is removed with soap and water.

Almay Amazing Lash Waterproof Mascara, Extremely Black - This mascara is in a gel base and contains Panthenol and Vitamin E. It is waterproof and lasts 16 hours. You must remove it with eye makeup remover and of course, Almay recommends their eye makeup remover.Cost for the mascara is about $8.00.

Almay Hypo-Allergenic Eye Makeup Remover Pads, Non Oily cost is about $6.00 and contains 80 pads.

Eye Scrub Sterile Eye Makeup Remover Pads, there are 30 pads and it runs about $14.00

Now that your eyes are complete with your mascara, it is time to add eyeliner! When choosing eyeliner you can go with liquid eyeliner, or a soft or hard pencil.I personally like the soft pencils with blended tools at the end, but that is just my personal preference.

If you like liquid eyeliners here are some for you.

Almay Amazing I-Liner - cost is about $8.00 and it comes in shades Definite Brown and Precise Black.

L'Oreal Lineur Intense- shake well before each use, lasts up to 8 hours, and cost is about $7.00

Almay Amazing Lasting 16 hour Eye Pencil- this is pencil form eyeliner and is said to last up to 16 hours. It comes in gray, taupe, brown, and black, and it costs roughly $8.00.

Wet n Wild- Eye pencils for $.99! Yes it's true. The Wet n Wild brand sells eye pencils as well as lip liners for .99 and they come in oodles of colors.

Eye shadows come in both creme and powder form.Revlon Illuminance comes in 4 creme shades in compacts of both warm and cool colors. They slide on easily and cost about $6.00 a compact.

Almay Bright Eyes are tube forms of creme eye shadows.Colors range from Golden Gleam to Mocha Shimmer. The colors are more neutral based and cost is about $6.00.

Maybelline Expertwear Quads- these are compacts of four powder eye shadows.Colors come in warm and cool tones such as Designer Chocolate and Sunlit Bronze. Cost is roughly $6.00.

Well, there you have it.Everything you need for beautiful expert eyes is not only at your fingertips but at your local drugstore as well!
