Visit the Freecycle Network website to see if anyone in your area is giving away free rubber mats. Freecycle is a nonprofit organization whose primary goal is to recycle goods and keep things out of landfills. Sign up for a free membership and start searching for free rubber mats in your area.

Drive to your local car wash or auto repair center and look in the dumpsters for free rubber mats. Some people decide to dispose of old rubber mats when cleaning out their cars. Although most people get rid of their rubber car mats because they're old and worn out, some people get rid of perfectly good rubber mats because they're tired of the way they look. If you stop at the dumpsters regularly, you may be able to find some rubber mats in fairly good condition.

Ask the employees at a car wash or car detailing facility if they know where you can get some rubber mats for free. They might have an overstock of car mats they could give you or sell to you for a discounted price.
