BIOGRAPHY

Samuel Fuller, screenwriter, producer and director, was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. His career as a writer began early as a copyboy for the NEW YORK JOURNAL at 12. Later when he was 17 he was a reporter for the SAN DIEGO SUN. He fought during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, and the Purple Heart.

Fuller published his first novel, BURN BABY BURN, when he was 24. His directorial debut came in 1949 with the film I SHOT JESSE JAMES. He is best known for the book THE BIG RED ONE which was filmed in 1978.

Samuel Fuller died in 1997.
