Some ideas might include a vacation, a wedding or engagement, a high school graduation, births and anniversaries, the story of a romance, or a group of years such as college. Stringing pictures together can tell a story in a scrapbook. Scrapbooking is not just about pictures, it's also about words. The words are very important, because if somebody looks through pictures of a bunch of balloons and kids, they don't know whose birthday party that it is. They don't know where it took place. They don't really even know that it's a birthday party. It could be just a regular party. Too many people put together albums where they just slide the pictures into a little store-bought $1 photo album. The point of a scrapbook is that a stranger should be able to look at your pictures and understand the story that's happening. It's important to have the proper pen and to use stickers with numbers and letters for titles on pages. This is called journaling. It's not something that requires an English degree. Anybody can do it. To go one step further, it's sometimes nice to add the who, what, when, where, and sometimes a beautiful quote that expresses the feeling of the page. Journaling is not limited to facts. It can also include feelings, quotes, and anecdotes, and it can be done as a bulleted list, a caption, or a little paragraph.
