The activities that would help raise self-esteem would be knowing yourself, doing and engaging in activities that allow you to laugh at yourself if you make mistakes and loving yourself even when you do make mistakes. One of the things that I have clients do at times is before they go to sleep at night is review their day and to be sure to acknowledge all of the things that they have done well. To take note of what they haven't done well, but not to beat themselves up for it. There are tricks there on what you do with your mind with that and make a note of it and how you can change it. And the main thing is to really acknowledge what you have done well; little things maybe with opening a door for an elderly person, maybe it was the way you wrote a memo, maybe it was that you smiled. Really begin to analyze your day and how you interact with people and how you interact with yourself. The primary thing with self-esteem is watching your own inner-dialogue and those things that you say to yourself. That's why self-criticism can be very destructive to self-esteem. It's certainly good to be honest with yourself. That's the critical part of it, not covering up things that perhaps you need to work on.
I think it's very important to seek education, whether it's in a formal way or reading on your own. Gathering information can increase confidence in your ability to handle situations.
