Step 1
Go to a gold party. One of the easiest ways to sell your unwanted gold jewelry is to attend a gold party. These house parties, similar to Tupperware parties, are given in individuals' homes with the host getting a small percentage of the sales. A gold dealer will set up in a back room and talk to attendees while the group enjoys refreshments and conversation in the main part of the house. The advantage is that the atmosphere is friendly and accessible and you can refuse the dealer's offer if you feel it's not to your liking.

Step 2
Visit your local pawn shop. Pawn shop dealers have always had an eye for good jewelry, and this is a natural extension of their business. Like the home parties, you'll get a quote and you can decide whether to accept it or take your jewelry elsewhere. A disadvantage is that pawn shops tend to be in less desirable parts of town.

Step 3
Sell to a gold-by-mail company. One of the easiest ways to sell your unwanted gold is to send for a gold-by-mail kit from one of the plethora of companies that advertise on TV and over the Internet. These companies will send you a metered, addressed envelope. You fill it with your items, mail it, and the company will send you a check. The disadvantage is that this is a blind transaction--you don't get an offer before your items are sold (see Resources below).
