How to Sell a Sunterra Timeshare

By Laura Hageman

  • Overview

Sunterra timeshares are also known as Club Sunterra. They offer a points award system that give owners an opportunity to earn enough points through using their timeshare and purchases that, as the points rack up, they are able to earn flying miles along with extensive time in their timeshare. Sunterra is one of the largest timeshare companies in the world and allows timeshare owners to travel just about anywhere they want.
    • Step 1

Create a list about your timeshare before advertising to sell. Include the size of the unit and if there are special things about the unit that would benefit the buyer such as if it is a joint unit (this is great for families) and amenities that are offered. Does the timeshare have a workout facility on site or spa? These are all beneficial to selling your timeshare. Include on the list nearby tourist attractions, restaurants, clubs and shopping centers. The more things to do near the timeshare, the easier it will sell.
    • Step 2

Advertise through the resort's listing. Resorts through the Sunterra will have a Website and listings available on site for those who are renting and would like to buy. Since there are more locations of Sunterra timeshares, your chances of selling are much higher than any other kind of timeshare.

    • Step 3

Check with Sunterra's waiting list. For popular locations there may be a waiting list of people interesting in buying. Sunterra has a resale program that will contact the people on your behalf who are on the waiting list.
    • Step 4

List your Sunterra timeshare online. One of the online listings would be www.buyandselltimeshare.com. You can even try listing it on Craigslist or Ebay.
    • Step 5

Contact timeshare buyers. For instance, there are companies that buy timeshare resales. One of the Websites is located under resources.
    • Skill: Moderately Easy
    • Tip: Gauge your price by what timeshares sold for nearby.
