Log onto the Paypal homepage.

Click the "Sign Up" link on the top of the page.

Choose the type of account you want to create. You can select "Personal," "Premier," or "Business." A person who wants to use Paypal to buy items online or receive money from a job can use the "Personal" account.

Enter your personal information on the next web page. Type in your email address, name, address and phone number. You will also need to create a password.

Click the "Agree and Create Account" tab at the bottom of the screen.

Choose to either pay using your bank account or with a credit card. Either of these are fine when setting up your Paypal account.

Enter either your bank account information or credit card information on the next page. If you choose the bank account option, enter your account number and bank routing number. To set up your Paypal account with a credit card, enter the credit card number and expiration date. Click the "Continue" tab when you're finished and you will receive a confirmation email from Paypal.

Go to your email account and open the confirmation email from Paypal. This email will have an "Activate" link. Click this link and your Paypal account will be activated. Once your account is activated, you will be able to use it.
