It's basically a big pond. A sewer lagoon is where you allow fluids to flow down to a big pond and within that pond you perform treatment. This is usually done on large facilities like municipal sized wastewater treatment facilities. A lagoon is a very common method that is utilized in municipal sized plants to treat sewage. So you can introduce air into that water with aerators and the sewage will then clean itself up. It can be moved down the treatment to where it can eventually be discharged back to the environment as sufficiently clean. Sewage lagoons are not normally a single family type solution. They are usually a municipal solution.
