Ventura is probably best known for some of our antique stores located downtown primarily and we have many used bookstores. There are also a couple of stores that specialize in spa type products including many locally made products because we have quite an agricultural community surrounding us - local lemon balm soaps and such. Also because of the agricultural areas surrounding us, we have an abundance of fresh produce throughout the year in our farmers' market and we have a fresh seafood market every Saturday. The big fishing boats sell seafood fresh off the boat.
In the downtown area, there are a lot of unique apparel stores. In other words, we are not the big chain store type environment, it's more unique boutique shopping. However, we do have an area on the east end of town that has the traditional stores like Macy's and Bed, Bath, & Beyond and so on.
