Shopping In Wilmington, Delaware

Shopping in Wilmington, Delaware. Shopping in Wilmington, Delaware includes antiques and reproductions, malls with anchors like Macey's, and outlet malls with stores like LL Bean, Cold Water Creek, Vanity Fair, and West Point Stevens.

We have a lot of really neat shops. The main mall called Christiana's is just south of Wilmington on I-95. They have about 15 million shoppers per year and anchor stores like Macey's. On Route 202, north of the city, there is a smaller one called the Concord Mall. There are specialty shops in the area for crafts and fine arts at a wide variety of prices. You could buy a Wyeth painting which might easily cost $500,000, but you'd have no sales tax on it. The outlet malls are on the riverfront. There is a group of shops called the Ship Yard Shops that has LL Bean, Cold Water Creek, Vanity Fair, West Point Stevens, and so forth. My wife found a raincoat with a liner at LL Bean not too long ago for only $18 and a quilted winter coat for only $24. You never know what you are going to find when walk into one of those stores. They are always fun.

You know, another nice shopping area is the museum gift shops. You could buy a $20,000 reproduction of a secretary's desk at the Winterthur gift shop. You can spend a lot more than that on a reproduction chest of drawers. You wouldn't believe they are reproductions. One of the original Highboys went for $1 million!
