Step 1
Remove the blinds from the window if you've already installed them. Extend them full length on the floor in an area where you have room to work.

Measure the height of your window with your measuring tape and write it down. This is the new length you want for the blinds.

Look at the bottom slat of the wooden blinds. The strings that holds the slats in place will be end there. In most cases, there will be a knot holding the two strings together. Untie the knot. If there is no knot, or you cannot untie it, cut the string at the very end.

Step 4
Remove the slats one at a time and slide them off down the strings. Remeasure the length of the blinds as you remove them and stop removing slats when you've got the blinds at the proper length. Retie the strings and hang the blinds.
