What Should I Know Before I Rent A Charter Boat?

What should I know before I rent a charter boat? You should know what type of attire is proper for sailing, weather policies, dock fees and insurance. I think before I would rent any boat I would do a site...

I think before I would rent any boat I would do a site visit to the boat to make sure there is no disappointment. You look at people's websites and the boat looks brand new and modern and wonderful and then when you get on the boat in person it sure doesn't look it does on the website. To avoid that, go for a site visit.

Another key issue would be what type of shoe that you are recommending your friends to wear. You can't believe how many spiked high heels I have seen and on an all fiberglass deck, they will be sliding all around. So part of your site visit is to look at those types of things. Look at the boat and imagine what would happen if it rained. In our case if you had 35 people that you are going out with and it rained, our outer upper deck is open; how comfortable would you be and what modifications would you make to the interior so that you could be comfortable. We will just fold up our dinning tables to give you much more room. That's a part of the site visit, to figure out if you had a passing rain shower where would everybody go.
I think part of that site visit is to find out where your guests are going to park and how they are going to find the boat. I always tell our guests it is a good idea to go to our website and grab one of the photos of their chartered boat and throw it into their invitation. I will see always people walking with sheets of paper looking at pictures of boats and saying "there is the boat I need to be on." You might walk down the dock and there are 35 boats that are available for chartering and you are not sure which one to get on. It is real nice to have a photo of the boat, pass it out to your guests, even if it is just e-mailed.
