I do not, but a lot of home inspectors do, work with real estate agents. I would suggest that all home buyers get their own home inspector. Look on the internet, there are many ways of searching out home inspectors. Some home inspectors pay the real estate agents to be on their preferred list. This can be scary, and here is why. If you were buying a car for someone, you might want to take it to a mechanic to make sure everything works properly. What if the seller of the car told you he had his own mechanic that could look at the car for you? How good of an inspection are you going to get? If the buyer brings his own home inspector, he is going to get a better inspection. Real estate agents get scared of home inspectors. Real estate agents want to know that they have a home inspector that will tell the buyer just what they want to hear. Sometimes, they can underscore something that could be very serious. In my profession, I work solely for the client, and I don't care to make real estate agents happy or not. I have done home inspections for real estate agents and brokers who sell here in Phoenix. They contacted me to do an inspection on their second home up in the mountains. However, I have not done one for them in Phoenix. Maybe I'm too honest for them. That is our conflict.
