I tend to say the man should, and the reason for that is because men who put emotional investments into women also put their financial investments into them. So for instance, if a man is paying it's because he is interested in you for more than just a causal date or sex. A lot of men pay for half, but if you follow them long enough, you will see that when they actually find someone they like, they won't let her pay. They have an emotional investment in her. A woman should not offer to pay unless she doesn't like him. Some women feel that if they pay half, they do not owe him, but your presence is reward enough. You should not have to pay. If you don't like the guy and want to get out of there, don't want to feel obligated to pay. Just shake his hand and say, "Thank you. It was nice meeting you. Bye-bye."
