You would probably want to take a look at that policy, if not every year, then every other year. You just want to take a quick look to check your home value and see if what you have your home covered for is keeping pace with inflation. Insurance policies do provide an inflation increase to keep pace with inflation and cost of living and that kind of thing.

You want to be sure that you are covered for the proper amount and so you would probably want to check the policy annually or every couple of years. Another good trigger is, if you do something major to your house, you want to take a look at your coverage and adjust accordingly.

Also, remodeling increases the value of your home. So if you remodel your basement or your kitchen, add a room, or put a wall in, you'll want to review your insurance coverage. Or if you finally break down and buy that 62-inch plasma screen TV that cost $10,000 or you buy fine art to keep in the house, those are definitely times to review your homeowner policy.
