There is a discovery process in everything that is done. Anyone is capable of learning how to do these things on their own. Unfortunately, usually what's learned in swimming is instinctual rather than productive. By instructional, I mean people learn how to survive when they teach themselves how to swim. They learn how to hold their heads above the water and basically tread water. Professional swim teachers are going to help them through this discovery process in a much quicker way and in things that will not necessarily be instinctual. That will be the most productive way for them to stay efficient, graduate to swimming faster and, most importantly, cut through all the learning process that someone on their own. It helps people learn much, much more quickly than anyone could on their own.
