Arcing may be caused by improper use of the rack.
Arching can also be caused by:
* High iron content of some vegetables, or not covering vegetables
* Not enough food in the microwave to absorb all generated energy

* No water surrounding vegetables when cooking

* Some types of ingredients like bacon and onions are known to cause arching
* Using recycled paper which contains small metal pieces
The rack should only be used in the microwave when cooking on 2 levels. For proper use you should cook on the rack and below the rack when the rack is in the oven. If the shelf is left in the unit without food on it, arching can occur - the cavity may be damaged and require repair if arching occurs.
