Side Effects of Vigrx

By Dwight Valdez

  • Overview

The use of herbal supplements has great appeal for men who are looking for male enhancement. They have the appeal of being natural and cost significantly less than prescription medication. However, just because they are natural and herbal does not mean that they are free of side effects.
  • VigRX and male enhancement products

VigRX is one of many all-natural male enhancement supplements available on the market. Like many male enhancement products, VigRX contains a number of natural ingredients that come from around the world with anecdotal reports that they increase the libido, provide greater stamina, cause larger erections, and prevent premature ejaculation.
  • Ingredients

There are two VigRX products. The original VigRX formula incorporates a blend of herbal extracts including Epimedium Leaf or Horny Goat Weed, Asian Red Ginseng, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf, Saw Palmetto Berry, Muria Pauma Bark, Cuscuta Seed, Hawthorn Berry, Catuaba Bark. These herbal supplement ingredients are believed to increase blood flow to produce harder erections. They are also reported to increase libido and prevent premature ejaculation. The VigRX Plus herbal supplement adds Bioperine, Damiana, and Tribulus to the original formula. Bioperine is derived from the fruits of black pepper and is clinically proven to increase absorption of nutrients that are combined with it. It is believed that Damiana acts as an aphrodisiac to relax the individual and increase libido. Tribulus is said to increase natural testosterone levels.

  • Side effects

The VigRX and VigRX Plus websites state that there are no reported side effects. However, this merely indicates that the herbal supplements have not had adequate clinical study. Each ingredient in VigRX and VigRX Plus can have specific side effects. For example, Epimedium and Hawthorn Berry have been associated with increased heartbeat. Hawthorn Berry, Ginkgo Biloba, and Asian Red Ginseng are all associated with headaches. Ginkgo Biloba has also been noted to cause dizziness and upset stomach. Insomnia has been associated with Cuscuta and Asian Red Ginseng. Reports of nausea, reduced libido or erectile dysfunction have also been linked to Saw Palmetto.
  • Considerations

While most male enhancement products share similar ingredients, it is believed that the blend and proportion of these ingredients make their product unique and the best. However, the blend and proportion of the natural supplements may cause side effects. The claims by VigRX and other companies cite personal testimonies as to their effectiveness. However, these claims are unproven since they have not undergone stringent, independent, clinical trials. In addition, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) do not regulate herbal supplements such as VigRX so there are no guidelines for manufacturing quality control.
  • Warning

Do not assume that herbal supplements are free of side effects because they are natural. If you experience any of the symptoms noted above you should stop taking the herbal supplement and consult your doctor.
