There is no "one description" of domestic violence; that varies from household to household. What we have seen is that most people are aware of the overt signs; the signs like bruises or slap marks or something like that on the person's body. Those are physical signs of abuse, but what people aren't aware of are the more subtle signs of abuse. These signs include financial control over a partner, telling the partner how to dress, telling the partner how to act in public, and isolating that partner from friends or family members. So those are really some of the more subtle signs of abuse that people need to be tuned to so that they know that there is a possible situation of domestic violence occurring.
