What are some signs of poor carpet installation? There are many signs that your carpet may have been installed badly or poorly; however, you can point these out by looking for peaking carpet seams or wrinkling in the carpet.
You look for seams that are gapping. Seams that are really well done, you will have to look for. If it is a good piece of carpet and it is a well-made seam, you will have trouble looking for it. Seams that are obviously gapped have tufts or they may be peaking. Peaking seams is something that has been around since day number 1. Sometimes a seam will peak, which is basically just what it sounds like. It is coming up into a little mountain peak. This can happen if you do not run your seam iron on the right temperature, or if you do not run it at the right speed.
You look for carpet that is wrinkling. Sometimes, you won't have a problem until the season changes because houses expand and contract with heat and cold. Everyone's house expands and contracts with heat and cold. If you have a piece of carpet that was put it in during the summer and it was not power- stretched, come winter, you may end up with wrinkly carpet.
