Simple Feng Shui Rules For The Kitchen

There are simple Feng Shui adjustments you can make in your kitchen to improve positive energy flow.

Feng Shui is an ancient art that relates to the flow of energy through your home. There are three main principals in the practice of Feng Shui. The first is that everything is alive with energy, otherwise known as Chi. The second is that everything is interconnected. The third principal is that everything is constantly changing.

One of the easiest ways to promote positive Chi is to clean up any clutter. Because the energy is constantly flowing through your house, clutter will block the energy flow. While this is true for any room in the house, the kitchen is commonly a "dumping ground" for books, purses, briefcases, jackets, and anything else you may be carrying in. Remember to always put things back in their place to avoid clutter. It is also wise to avoid too many knickknacks. Overdone centerpieces can be replaced with a simple green plant. Do not clutter the kitchen floor with shoes or rugs.

The two main elements in your kitchen are fire and water. The sink and refrigerator are the water elements. The fire element is the stove. It is important that the two elements are not placed right next to each other. This will create an energy conflict. Because it may not be feasible to separate your sink and refrigerator from your stove, there are some things you can do to promote positive energy flow. You can place a crystal or chimes between the two conflicting energies. Likewise, you can place a small potted plant or bamboo stalks between them.

There are many guidelines in reference to your kitchen stove. It is important that the stove be kept clean, both outside and inside. Be sure to use all the burners regularly. The burners represent wealth generating potential. If a burner is not being used, you are not using all possible resources for income. The stove should be positioned so that the cook has a clear view of the doorway. If not, and if your stove cannot be moved, you can place a mirror above the stove so that the doorway is in view while cooking. It is important that the cook see the doorway while preparing the meal so that they are not startled. If they are startled it may cause negative Chi in the food they are preparing. If at all possible arrange your kitchen so that the stove is not directly under a window. If you cannot avoid this, place a crystal in the window to promote positive Chi.

It is also important to keep your kitchen as bright as possible. The use of the color white promotes positive energy by harmonizing the metallic appliances. Yellow is also a pleasant color that can be used. Ceramic tile with a shiny finish will keep the energy moving. Replace any burnout light bulbs immediately, as the darkness promotes negative energy. By hanging a crystal or wind chime in a dark corner, you can attract positive Chi.

It is good to have fresh fruit placed in sight, such as in a fruit basket. This is symbolic of health and abundance. Displays of fresh flowers and plants also promote positive energy flow. On the other hand, garlic and onions should be kept out of sight. They are representative of subtle decay.

The energy flow in your kitchen is especially import. Food is a life sustaining and often healing element. That is why it is essential to have positive energy in the storage and preparation of it. By following the simple steps of Feng Shui you can greatly improve the positive energy flow.
