Simple Wardrobe Basics

You don't have to dress all in black to be fashionable on a budget, but a few black things never hurt.A black skirt, pants, dress shirt, t-shirt, and of course the ever popular little black dress.The items are must haves in any woman's wardrobe because they can be as dressy or as casual as you need them to be.They'll get you through weddings, funerals, job interviews, and first dates.And don't forget the shoes - black walking shoes and black dress shoes, pumps if you can stand it.Maybe a pair of low-heeled pumps and some sexy high-heeled sandals.

Next come the earth tones.You'll need a pair of khaki or brown pants and perhaps a skirt. If you live in a warm climate, this is also a good color for capri pants.Make sure you have several neutral colors casual tops - button up or tees.Choose colors like ivory, white, brown, navy, army green, and tan.You can mix and match these items endlessly.For shoes, try walking shoes in brown and a pair of leather sandals that'll go the beach or to work.

If you're a flowers and lace kind of girl - you'll need a floral skirt and maybe one with ruffles plus a few dressy blouses.

If you're a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl - you'll need at least three pairs of good fitting jeans (which can be a challenge in and of itself) and lots of casual tops in your favorite colors.As for finding jeans that fit, don't worry if there's only one brand that works (consider yourself lucky) - buy three pair of the same jeans.Make sure you're covered for all the seasons - t-shirts, long sleeve jerseys, hooded sweatshirts, and tank tops.

If you're athletic you'll need a selection of sports bras, spandex shorts and the requisite t-shirts and jogging pants.And don't forget a good pair of running shoes.

For those lazy days at home and for running errands, every woman should have a couple pairs of knit lounge pants and comfy shirts.

Don't forget sleep wear.Are you the lacy lingerie type or the flannel pajama type?And there's nothing wrong with being both.Just make sure you've got every occasion covered.

For summertime, you'll need a swim suit, tank tops, shorts, and sundresses.And don't forget those flip flops.
