A good skin care routine for oily skin will reward you with a healthy glow and an even skin tone.
For oily skin it is recommended to cleanse your skin twice a day (morning and night). This will help in reducing the bacteria on your skin, and it will keep the pore ducts free of oil and dirt on the face.
Tip: With regular cleansing of your face daily, and using a mask or an exfoliating scrub once a week will get rid of any dead and dried up skin cells. Then the new ones will take the place of the dead and dried up skin cells. If you leave these dead and dried up skin cells on your face too long you run the risk of clogging your pores. Then your face will have blackheads, or a patchy look to it.
After you have cleansed your face and patted it dry with a towel it is time to use a toner or astringent. A toner or astringent will remove any extra oil or dirt that the cleanser has left behind. For oily skin a toner or astringent is definitely recommended.
The last step to your skin care routine should be moisturizing. Moisturizers will help keep your face soft and supple. It will also help with the signs of aging, and to keep an even skin tone. For oily skin it is advised to find a moisturizer that has less oil in it. A lot of times it will say on the label "for oily skin" or whatever type of skin you have. The last thing that oily skin needs is more oil on the face.
Tip: When it is hot outside try storing your moisturizer in the refrigerator. This will make your skin look firmer and it feels so good to the face when it is hot outside. When it is cold outside rub your moisturizer in between your fingers before you put it on your face. This will take the chill off of it before you apply it to your face.
Having a regular skin care routine will help prevent excess oil from forming and breaking out. It will also help control shininess and the feeling of tight skin. Controlling the excess oil on your face will reward you by giving your skin a healthy glow. This will make your skin care routine all worth the while.
