Soluble fiber is very important for weight control, blood sugar and also blood lipid levels like cholesterol and triglycerides as well as enhancing healthy bowel function. Good sources of soluble fiber would be the grounded milled flaxseeds, oatmeal and oat bran, starchy beans and other legumes like lentils, seaweed, apple, pear, citrus fruits, raspberries and strawberries. These are all very good sources of soluble fiber and I find that most people have a low intake of that type of fiber.

You can usually get seaweed dried and so you can get the flat sheets of seaweed that are used to make the mackerels or little Japanese rolls that have rice, fish and vegetables in them. You can buy those the sheets of flat pressed seaweed and I would use them instead of a cracker or bread.

Take a piece of turkey and roll it up in there. Or just eat them plain because they are a little frothy and crunchy. It's called noye. Because that is the way they used to make the sushi. And you can get other types of dried ocean vegetables. Another thing to use it for is putting them in salad. You can put them in grains. So instead of putting salt when you are making brown rice or something you can just break up some pieces of the dried seaweed, put it in. Also it is very good in soups. In addition to soluble fiber, these foods are very good source of calcium and magnesium.

Increase your intake of the variety of phyto-estrogen rich foods. Other sources of phyto-estrogen rich foods would be the starchy beans and legumes, asparagus, citrus fruits, apricot seeds, nuts and fennels. And studies have shown that people who eat more of these foods have a protective effect against certain types of cancer in both men and women.

I have to start a targeted well balanced nutritional supplement program because even when you eat properly it is difficult but not impossible to get all the nutrients you need from optimal health from your food alone.
