That's a faux finish. You can use a variety of different colors, but that is designer-type work. That's making a wall look like wallpaper with paint. You have to find a pattern that you want. If you're a professional, you can use a sponge or a dish pan, mop, or netting. Just dab the paint on the walls. The idea there is to keep a consistency. You can practice on a piece of sheet rock or on a corner of a room or something. Just paint over it. You've already got the practice; just paint it the same color as the wall. You have to keep a consistency and even add colors on top of that. You can start light or start dark, then gradually go lighter to get that 3-D effect. There's a variety of things that can be done depending on what kind of texture you have on the walls. Most people are going with a type of orange peel type effect on the wall. Some homes have the Monterey knocked-out finish on there. Those are real neat with stains on the wall itself. You wipe if off and then put a sealer on top of that and it looks really antique.

Q: What other advice do you have for painting interior walls?

You can do accent walls if you want a different color to accent the walls. You could draw a line from corner to corner, perpendicular. Draw lines up and down or sideways. It just takes time, but it really has the look of a room.
