Stamford is 30 miles to the southwest of Manhattan. We are closer to New York than we are to Hartford. Stamford was incorporated in 1641 and has a population of 121,142. The majority of the population is White, but there are also Blacks, Asians, Native Americans, and Hispanics. The median age is 25-49. Unlike most places with county governments, we have individual city and town governments. We have a lot of residents who commute to New York for work. Our Metro North Commuter Railroad can get you to mid-town Manhattan in less than an hour. We also have the Amtrak, but that is more for going to Boston or Washington. I would say we have a moderate climate with four seasons. I would say we have a more of a moderate winter. We have been known to have snow storms, but it's not enough to plough through.
