I've got a lot of boots in my office, so I will measure the opening on one. This happens to be a man's boot and it's probably six and a half inches. The measurement for the women's boot is probably about the same; let's say between 5 and 6 inches. Of course we can go smaller or make them wider if we need. Sometimes we run into a little bit of a problem when we give out exact measurements. People are really not consistent but it's a quarter an inch difference, depending on the style of boot. People really hold us to "well you said it was six inches and it's five and a half." This is just the typical size. Sometimes when we get into measuring people's feet and we measure them and four months later they decide to buy the boot, they may have gained weight or lost weight for whatever reason, and now the boot fits different.
