How many times have you found yourself wanting to join a mom's club or a play group? Most women who have young children need some time away and are interested in attending some similar organization. Although there may not be one already started in your area, no need to fret, the answer is to start your own.
The first step you must take is to see if there is a local interest. Ask your personal friends and relatives who have small children if they would be interested. If you have just a couple of people to back you then you have something to start with.
Next, go about finding out when the best time of the week for the ladies is. Usually a weekday morning or afternoon seems to work best. You also need to find a meeting place, perhaps the church you attend will be willing to let you start there. If that is not an option, see if your own home is a possibility.
Once you have established a time and a location it is time to advertise. If you will be using your church, a good method of advertisement is the church bulliten. See if your church secretary can make room to print up the announcment. Next, make up a flier yourself including your name and phone number and your intentions. Take these to neighborhoods and begin passing them around and posting wherever legal. Also ask your local merchants if you may post on their windows as well.
When the time has arrived to meet for the first time, hopefully you will have several interested ladies in attendance. Do not become discouraged if the group is not large, it may take some time for it to develop and grow. Remember, if you are seeking out the company of other moms and children for yours to play with, do not wait for someone else to start a playgroup, do it yourself, if you do not, who will?
