The first thing that I usually try to get most people to do when I start working with them is to start keeping a food journal. Even if they only do it for several weeks the real purpose of that is to help them get in touch with what they eat and how it affects the way they feel. So that means finding five minutes at the end of the day and when I do it myself I would like to do because I am kind of visual, I would like to take a notebook that is really interesting, paper and the nice pen into it. Some people like to do it on their computers but the point is to write down and to recall what you had to eat that day and when and most importantly how you felt that day. If you had any symptoms or any change in your hunger or energy level because all that needs to be captured so that you can start to really see how what you eat affects the way you feel and affects your health.
