Starting a family

What are the key factors a person should consider before deciding to start a family?

Adam and Eve did not have much to consider before deciding to start a family.Unfortunately, the world has become a lot more complicated since then. There are many things to consider when planning a family including, financial issues, emotional issues, family situation, maturity levels, and medical issues.

First and foremost, you should consider the maturity levels of both you and your partner. Are you ready to give up your spontaneity and wild nights, for dirty diapers and a crying kid?It is important to really think about this, because there are some changes you will have overlooked until you have already took the plunge.Think about the things you most like to do.Then imagine bringing a baby.If you can't see bringing a baby, then you have to be prepared to give this activity up.Even with a baby sitter, you won't be able to do these activities as often. In all, just be sure that you are ready to commit.

Next, you will want to make sure that the family situation is best for the baby. You need to remember that the baby is the most important issue here, not your need to start a family. Will the baby have a second parent? If not, does the baby have grandparents? Will the baby have male and female role models?Studies have shown that children, both male and female, are more prone to have problems when they do not have male and female role models.

Then, you will want to make sure that you have adequate emotional support.Who can you turn to when you fill overwhelmed?Life would be perfect if we never felt like giving up, but thankfully God has given us friends to help cope.Everyone needs a shoulder sometimes, and it is not fair to put these burdens on our children. You may be a parent that is able to keep their feelings from showing, but do you want to take that chance?

Moreover, you will want to make sure that you have the finances to support your children. It is important that while you teach your children that money is not everything, you still have enough to pay the bills. The best thing you can do for your kids is show them the value of money by working hard and living responsibly. It is important to teach them to rely on themselves. This is taught best by example.

Last, but not least, you need to be medically ready to have children.Make an appointment with your doctor and let them know your intentions. You want to make sure that your baby is not at risk from genetic disorders, sexually transmitted diseases, substance abuse, or other physical illnesses. You also want to make sure that you are ok mentally.Depression for example, can be made worse by hormonal changes in pregnancy. If you have any concerns talk with your doctor.

It may seem like a lot to consider, but it is worth it to know that your child will have a better chance at a bright future. In all, trust your instincts and surround your baby with love and a positive environment.
