Stuart is in southeast Florida about 12 miles northwest of Palm Beach, 100 miles north of Miami, and 100 miles south of Orlando. We are unique because we are a community of only 140,000 people, and we are one of the smallest counties in the state of Florida. We have the most stringent, comprehensive land use management plan in the state of Florida, which means we don't allow over-population. There isn't one building in the county that is over four stories tall, and the beachfront is all open. We don't have skyscrapers and huge hotels or motels and things like that blocking the view of the ocean and the river. So we were very unique in that way. We don't allow wetlands mitigation which means a developer can't come in and either fill in or dig up our wetlands. I think that adds to the ambiance of our community most of the people like to come here and that's why we are so special.
