The first question you need to ask is what size speaker system you are looking for. If size comes into play, you are going to spend more money for the size to get the same sound quality out of a medium to large speaker package on average. So the larger the speakers, the more likely they are to give you more full range sound. Bigger is not always better though.
It is really hard because it is such a general question. Speakers have a range of power that they will handle from 50-Watts for example up to 100-Watts or 150-Watts. So your receiver, your power source, has to have at least 15-Watts, which lots of them do. And then you do not want to have over, or if you do have over the recommended power on a particular speaker, that just means you cannot turn it up.
