Overview
As temperatures steadily drop and utility bills steadily rise, many people are looking for alternative ways of heating their homes. One of the more recent entries into this industry (although they have been around for over 20 years) is the Sun Twin heater. You find this economical source of heat beneficial if not necessary for your home's winter budget.
Definition
A Sun Twin heater is an electric-powered heater that claims to heat your home without reducing the humidity level. Additionally, because it heats at a non-ignitable temperature, the unit is safe for children and pets to be around.
Types
There are many different types of Sun Twin heaters in production. Some are designed to resemble traditional fireplaces, complete with oak or cherry mantles, while others are designed to heat an immediate area or small room. In addition, some models have built-in purification filters which filter the pollutants out of your air while simultaneously warming the area.
Function
Sun Twin heaters have a quartz infrared heating element that is designed to offer comfortable heat levels without scorching the air surrounding the unit. The quartz element generates an infrared light that doesn't reach a burning temperature and emits no carbon monoxide or harmful radiation. The unit also features 3 patented solid copper heat exchangers within its heating chambers that effectively maintain the heat being generated by the machine.
Efficiency
Sun Twin heaters, like all electric-powered heaters, are 100 percent efficient. In electric heat, efficient is not the same thing as economical. This is where many people get confused. Electric heaters are 100 percent efficient because all of the electricity that is being used is being made into heat. There is no waste of electricity. But, that does not mean that you won't notice the electric use on your bill.
Look at it this way: If you have an electric baseboard heating system, when it is heating, it is turning all of the electricity it is drawing into heat. Therefore, it is a 100 percent efficient system. Now, if you keep your thermostat relatively high, and your baseboard heat is always on, then your bill will be huge.
Considerations
It doesn't matter what brand or type of electric heater you purchase, the key to keeping your bills manageable is choosing the properly rated heater for your needs. Sun Twin heaters do have room-size recommendations that come with each heater, so it helps you avoid purchasing one that is simply too small to heat a larger room.
Sun Twin heaters offer a good solution if you want to limit how much you heat certain areas of your home that are not being used. For example, if you have a two-story home and you spend the majority of your time upstairs, you can use the Sun Twin heater to keep your room warm upstairs. You can then turn the thermostat down throughout your home and reduce the amount of heat wasted.
