There are so many ways to take care of your expensive and yes inexpensive furniture to make both last for many years.
Furniture of course is used in our daily living, so why not take the time to care for these items in our household whether inexpensive or very expensive, furniture needs care. Improper care and handling of furniture can destroy it can cause you to purchase more before it is nessary.
Good furniture can last us all of our lives with proper care and inexpensive furniture can have lots of years of durability with good care.
Furniture requires our attention by keeping it dusted, waxed or polished and also keeping up with blemishes and treating them when necessary.
I have a plan wherein I use a creme furniture wax on my furniture all thru my home once a week and it stays looking beautiful. If you live in a very dusty area naturally you will need to dust daily. Our home is closed most of the time and doesn't require this daily dusting. I always have compliments on my furniture when guests arrive. I also live in a very dry climate and this requires all wood surfaces to have oil or wax on them to prevent cracking and to last for a very long time.
There are many varied preferences on whether to use oil or wax on furniture. I prefer creme but you actually need to pick the one product that is affordable and also easiest for you to use. Now if you have antiques the use of paste wax, a really fine furniture creme or a cream wax is
recommended.
There are many types of woods here are a few: wood-shiny gloss, wood-low luster, wood-painted or antiqued, wood-lacquered,wood-oil-rubbed, to name just a few and you will need to provide the best product for that indivudal wood surface.
If you have bamboo, cane, reed or wicker furnitue you will need to dust it with a clean cloth, or a duster sprayed to attract dust or even use the dusting attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Then wash with a sponge or cloth squeezed out in warm sudsy water, and rinse afterwoods. If heavily soiled, add a little ammonia to the water. You can even use an occasional treatment with wax. This type of furniture needs to be taken outside once a year and wet donw with a fine spray from the hose and if put in the bathtub under a fine mist from the shower. Be sure to determine the
finish on this type of furniture before wetting.
If you have leather furniture and live in a very dry climate it can actually crack, or even too much dampness can cause mildew. For regular care of leather furniture use a special leather soap or saddle soap following the manufacturer's instructions. Be sure to rinse thoroughly and dry iwth a soft cloth. Be careful of Neat's food oil as it can leave a dull rather than a glossy finish, because it will be too readily absorbed.
If you have leather table tops you can spray with a spray polish and use a non oil base wax for obtaining high luster finishes.
For marble furniture, you wil need to occasionaly damp dust with a sponge squeezed from warm sudsy water. Rinsse and polish dry with a soft cloth.
Taking care of your furniture can be a pleasant job, just get a weekly routine, set aside a morning to accomplish this tast and then its over till next week and you'll enjoy your home more.
