That's a good question and a broad question. There are a number of taxes, including income taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, franchise taxes, and payroll taxes. In addition, there are a wide variety of additional international or local taxes that may apply to businesses. We have a very complex web of tax requirements when you look at the host of taxes that apply to that particular business that are imposed by different jurisdictions. For example, there are over 6,000 taxing jurisdictions in the US that impose sales taxes - not just the 50 states (actually, 5 states don't even impose sales taxes).
