The opportunities for mountain biking, and for hiking within the area are great. We are the watershed for Deer Creek, Wolf creek, and the Yuba River. And within over a 20 mile radius there is incredible hiking. So it's not a far drive in that they are beautiful drives wherever you go. Immediately adjacent to Grass Valley are a lot of bike opportunities, some walking opportunities and hiking as far as 160 acres. There is North Star Mine property, which is 700 acres. At Bridgeport there is a big beach. During the summer, under this beautiful covered bridge, the kids wade out into the river. At Scotts Flat Lake, they have boating opportunities with beaches and barbecues; that's a lake just about six miles from downtown Grass Valley. It's a good sized lake; you can even sail on that or motor boat. There are places you can hike on the beach and enjoy. There is Independence Trail, which is an old mining trail. That is wheelchair accessible. You can walk along that, and it takes you along the river. It's part of the Yuba River State Park. It is a very unique opportunity for both seniors and for kids to walk along the watershed and to see this beautiful Yuba river valley that goes through there.
