Are there risks by having a tummy tuck? Tummy tuck risks are minimized when you have a board certified anesthesiologist and an American Board of Plastic Surgery certified doctor. There are always risks with...
There are always risks with any surgery because of the risk of going under general anesthesia. It could be an unknown factor; the doctor would have no way of knowing if that patient just has a reaction to the general anesthesia. There's no way of knowing. I have been here for 10 years. This practice has been in Houston for 14 years. We have never had a death in our facility.
So, here is the key, here is the secret (and this is my job to educate the callers about this), if nothing more, you should have a board certified physician. And what I mean by "board certified" is that they are certified through the American Board of Plastic Surgery. That means those doctors have spent 2-3 years studying plastic surgery on top of getting their medical degree. So our doctors have had 6 or 7 years medical training. But there are lots of plastic surgeons in this country that have had a summer course in plastic surgery. That's where you run into problems. Those are the doctors that do the tummy tucks for $6000. The second thing is to make sure that the anesthesiologist is also a board certified anesthesiologist and also a physician. So if you come here for surgery, you not only have top certified plastic surgeons with 14+ years experience, but you also have a board certified physician anesthesiologist in surgery with you. That gives you two physicians in surgery with you and we also put two nurses in surgery with you.
