Yes and No. There are Koi, which is what people typically think of as pond fish. And Koi are the beautiful fish. They are more temperamental than goldfish, but a lot of people put goldfish in their pond. Koi are more expensive, but Koi can live up to 200 years. In Japan, they are handed down from generation to generation. So, they're not the same thing. When you get involved with Koi, it is a love affair. There are show Koi that are thousands of dollars. We sell them through our online store and they have bloodlines just like a show dog or a show horse. It can be a whole different thing than just having fish in your pond.
You can put goldfish in. The pond I have right now, I have had it for about five years and it's an addiction. The pond I have is my third pond, but I have had it about five years and we are talking this summer about expanding it, but I did not know how to take care of the fish when I first got my first pond and ended up losing some. So, I ended up just going and buying 49 cent goldfish and I have some of the same goldfish that I have had for seven years. So, you do not have to spend lots of money on the fish. They stay out there in the wintertime, because we do not have severe winters. But your fish can stay in the pond all winter. My goldfish that were two inches long when I got them are like 10 inches long now.
