Things To Do In Cincinnati: Downtown Night Life

Nightlife in downtown Cincinnati for a day on a business trip or just passing through town - here are a few things to do in downtown Cincinnati

If you are ever in downtown Cincinnati on a business trip and have some free time one day, here are some things you can do to make your trip to the Queen City a little more memorable.

1.) Take a walk over to Fountain Square at the corner of Fifth and Vine Streets. There you will find the Tyler Davidson Fountain, which was completely refurbished in 2000. The fountain, a gift to the city in 1871, is the center of attraction for visitors and natives alike. In the summertime, you will often find live music and other entertainment, and ice skating and caroling in the winter.

2.) Carew Tower, right across the street from Fountain Square, is the tallest building in Cincinnati. You can go to the top of it and see a view of the city from all directions, or stay on the first three floors and shop at the many unique stores, including nature and magic stores, Cincinnati stores, book stores, electronics shops, and a food court. If you want more shopping, you will find Lazarus and Sax's Fifth Avenue next door to the Carew Tower.

3.) Mount Adams is the place to go if you want a trendy restaurant or bar to go to. High atop the city, Mount Adams is a small neighborhood with century-old homes, small cafes, and unique shops. Restaurants there can be difficult to get into at night, so you may want to call ahead.

4.) If you want some exercise with some scenery to go with it, Sawyer Point is a beautiful park along the Ohio River that you will enjoy. You can trace the history of Cincinnati at different points, play volleyball, rollerblade, or view the river and fast-growing Northern Kentucky from the Serpentine Wall. And while you're in the

neighborhood, stop by the Montgomery Inn on the east side of Sawyer Point for the world's best barbecue ribs.

5.) If you have time for a Reds game in the evening, Cinergy Field is right on the river. You can also see construction beginning on the Reds new home, The Great American Ballpark, which they will move into in 2003. Just west of Cinergy Field is Paul Brown Stadium, home of the Cincinnati Bengals.

To see everything worth seeing in the Cincinnati area in one day would be impossible. But if you are staying downtown and have some free time one day, these are some sites and attractions you may enjoy that will make your trip to the Queen City a memorable one.
