Educational Fun

This is a must see for kids in Houston! It has been rated in the top two children's museums in the country. The building alone is a sight to see. This is a great hands-on experience and everyone in the family will learn something new here.

This is definitely a great day for kids that love animals. You'll find over 3,100 animals here as well as educational exhibits. There is also a special Children's Zoo and carousel.
Houston Museum of Natural Science One Hermann Circle Drive (in Hermann Park) 713-639-4629
This is definitely a family favorite. You will find an array of exhibits and attractions here. Make sure to visit the Burke Baker Planetarium while you're here. Children will really love the Cockrell Butterfly Center & Live Insect Zoo. Also on premises is the Wortham IMAX Theater. No matter what is showing you'll definitely enjoy the experience.
Houston Gulf Coast Railroad Museum (all admissions under $5 - open weekends only; seasonal) 7390 Mesa Rd. 713-631-6612
The facility includes a collection of railroad locomotives and cars as well as related artifacts. There is a model railroad on display and a research facility.

Everyone loves the Art Car Parade, a tradition here in Houston. This is where you can learn about the history of the art cars and see all sorts of wonderful and sometimes mind-boggling creations.

The FunPlex is an indoor entertainment mall. There is everything from a movie theater to a pool hall, rides and games, bowling, skating, mini-golf and more! It can truly be a rainy day heaven! There is also a food court so you won't even need to leave for dinner.

This is a great water park for any age. It's the only place in Houston you can ride an uphill water coaster! This park also features special areas for children only.

This facility offers dining, games, and rides, a huge aquarium and white tigers! A unique entertainment/dining experience right in the middle of the city!

This is a popular Houston mall where you can shop, eat and go ice-skating in the indoor rink in the center of the lower level.
Right Outside the City

Space Center Houston is worth the drive out of town. There is an admission fee. There are all kinds of activities and exhibits for children and adults. Definitely on many Houston visitors' top ten lists.
