The Clark Planetarium ( 110 S. 400 W.) has free admission to view their many exciting exhibits. The Clark Planetarium also offers shows about the forces of nature, different planets, exciting laser/music shows and movies in the IMAX format.
The Utah Museum of Natural History is located at the University of Utah, in the heart of Salt Lake City. It includes a wonderful dinosaur discovery hall, interesting exhibits on Utah's Native American tribes, and always has something new because the museum hosts a number of touring exhibits, as well.
The Hogle Zoo ( 2400 E. Sunnyside Ave.) is another fun family activity in Salt Lake City. Nearly every child enjoys going to the zoo, and this one offers a nice selection of animals and amenities such as food and a great gift shop. The Zoo is open from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. every day except Christmas and New Years.
Tracy Aviary (589 E. 1300 S.) has over 400 different types of birds, many of which are rare or endangered species. They feature live bird shows and interactive displays. The park guides are knowledgeable and friendly.
Antelope Island State Park is an island located in the Great Salt Lake. One must drive on a seven mile causeway to get there. Once there, families can view a fantastic variety of wildlife, including buffalo, birds and antelope. There are trails for hiking and biking and the island feature campgrounds, a marina, and beach picnic areas.
Wheeler Historic Farm (6351 S. 900 E.) It is open from dawn to dusk every day, throughout the year, with activities dictated by the changing seasons. This is an historic farm that re-creates the rich history of Utah farmers. Attractions include wagon rides, farm activities, tours, demonstrations, etc.
