Will Mello, owner of Online Vacations, a website where homeowners advertise their vacation properties, says that is why time share vacation rentals are becoming the newest craze these days.
"From my perspective, what's happening is that the timeshare vacation clubs are now starting to lease individual vacation rentals from homeowners and pass them off as timeshares where you go in and request to swap your week for something else," Mello says.

"It is a kind of interesting, because it is a lease with permission to sublet so it's completely legal. You may have a one bedroom timeshare in Lake Tahoe but you want to go to the beach this year instead. So you trade your place in Tahoe for a week at the beach, but the condo that you are staying in may not necessarily be a timeshare. It may be privately owned. Everybody gets what they want," Mello says.
The nice asset of renting out a time share property is that you are privy to all the amenities on site. Oftentimes, golf courses, swimming pools, snack areas, and shuttles are provided at the time share resorts. You can also consult with onsite management about restaurants and recreational activities in the area.
Time share rentals have another added plus. Since many of the customers are repeat vacationers, you can also ask your vacation neighbors questions about the town. They can give you information about discount coupons, some of the hot spots in town, and clubs in the area.
