First step I think you take when looking for a great teacher especially if you are brining a child to the place would be to look at the instructor and ask do I want my child to grow up and possess the similar qualities as the adult that is teaching the class? Are they in shape, are they courteous, are they respectful, are they articulate, and are they happy? If you go into a school like one on the Karate Kid movies, where they scream and them and they scream back at them, you certainly don't want your kid there.
It was more a sports school that is kind of what that movie was showing. I would think that you would want a clean facility, a facility that focussed on safety and a facility that truly empowered every student making sure that when you leave their everyday you feel good. You of course know that there are plenty of things more to learn and plenty more to work on, but that going there for one day you took a step closer towards your goal and that the facility was able to help you do that. There are a lot of business things I think that are important when you look into the school. Long-term contracts are not necessary. If a school forces you into signing up for a year the first day you walk-in that's a telltale sign that something is up.
If you're forced to pay in cash that's a telltale sign that something is up. The school should offer you some free lessons and they should also offer you a way out. My school offers a money back guarantee. I am one of the only schools in my area that does that, but I do that because I want people there because they want to be there not because they signed a piece of paper. I believe in my service so much that if they're not happy, I will be happy to give them their money back.
