Absolutely. Kid's closets are a little different. They do sometimes require more shelving than hanging space, because kids typically do not have many clothes to hang. For kids, it is important to know what they need the most and what they are going to be able to reach- because a lot of times you know kids do not need to reach everything that you store in their closet. So you could always put the things that maybe you don't want them to have all the time up on the higher shelf, toys that they only get to play with under supervision- you can put those up high or clothing that is seasonal and stuff like that. It is important to give them additional space for other items because typically, in kids closets, you are storing more than just clothing. You are also storing toys and stuffed animals and stuff like that. It is important to give them plenty of shelf space, shoe storage, and stuff like that. The important thing with kid's closets is that you give them a system and teach them how to use it. Let them learn to be organized on their own, rather than typically just stuffing everything in the closet (which kids usually do). It tends to stick with them if you teach them early.
