A bachelor or bachelorette party can be a fun time of celebration not only for the future bride and groom, but also for their friends and family. Each person is unique and has a different idea of what makes a fun bachelor or bachelorette party. When planning the party, consider whom you are throwing the party for and what he or she would really enjoy.
Kyle Hayden, the Event Coordinator for Strong Events, which specializes in decorating and design for theme parties, suggests planning the party for a date well in advance of the wedding. While bachelor and bachelorette parties were traditionally thrown the night before the wedding or after the rehearsal dinner, it is fine to have the party at a different time. "Do it three weeks or a month before the wedding. You can have a better time because the brides and grooms are usually more relaxed at that time and I think they will enjoy it a lot more too," Hayden says.
There are a number of different ways to plan a bachelor or a bachelorette party. Hayden advises that you shouldn't plan anything that the bride or groom wouldn't want to do or feel comfortable doing. He also suggests keeping in mind the limits of the significant other and of what he or she would approve.
Hayden says that a bachelor or bachelorette party does not necessarily have to be a wild party. If there is an activity that the bride or groom enjoys doing with their friends, this might be a great way to celebrate the upcoming wedding.
Hayden says that he has planned bachelor parties with a poker night theme. This theme could work with either a small or large group. With a large group, you could set up an entire poker tournament with different tables. This theme could certainly be used for a group of ladies, as well.
Another suggestion is a day of recreation and relaxation. For example, this can involve a golf outing. An entire day can be devoted to playing golf and relaxing with friends and family. A nice lunch or dinner can be served before or after the game. Another example is a spa outing involving a day of pampering. This can be a wonderful time to relax and catch up with friends and family the bride or groom has not seen in a while. It also lends itself to reminiscing about fun times with the bride or groom.
Some brides and grooms even enjoy having a bachelor or bachelorette outing that spans an entire weekend. This could involve going camping, taking a road trip, spending some time at a retreat center, or even flying off to a tropical island. The plan should be centered around what the bride or groom would enjoy, how much money his or her friends want to spend, and time availability. A weekend outing may involve just a few of the closest friends of the bride or groom.
Whatever you choose, make sure to plan the event far enough in advance to provide ample warning to all the guests. While celebrating such a special event, the bride and groom are sure to want as many of their friends and family in attendance as possible.
