Step by step instructions and hints for shaving your legs for the first time.
Before I continue, I want to inform you of some personal choice. If you are in your preteens, you may want to wait to shave, especially if you have a light hair color. After the first time you shave the hair usually comes back in thicker and darker. For those with thick or dark hair, you may find that you need to shave on a daily basis, which can become time-consuming and frustrating.
Steps for Shaving Your Legs:
1. Leave shaving for the last thing you do in the shower, or at least wait a few minutes. The water will soften the hair, making it easier to shave and less likely to give you painful razor burn.
2. Place your foot on the ledge of the wall of the shower, or sit down if you can. Lather up one leg with shaving cream. Do not use soap, as it will dry out your skin.
3. Be cautious of areas where your bone is close to your skin, such as your ankles and knees. These areas can get cut easier than others. If you do cut yourself, get out of the shower and tend to it. The hot water can make it bleed more.
4. Gently hold the razor against your ankle on the side of your leg and shave up a couple of inches. You will need to rinse the razor after each stroke to remove hairs and shaving cream. Repeat this action with the sides and front of your entire leg taking caution with your ankle and knee.
5. Turn your leg over and shave the back of your leg, again being careful with your ankle and knee.
6. Repeat with your other leg.
7. After you get out of the shower, apply some type of moisturizer to seal in moisture. This prevents dry skin, which shaving can cause. Some type of baby oil works the best for this as it has less ingredients to affect the skin.
After the first time you should be able to shave in longer strokes. It will get easier with time, and you should spend less time doing it.
