In the sun, you need to wear SPF that is the most important tip. Wear SPF and make sure you put SPF on your lips. Use caution. I am not a heat advocate. Getting sun poisoning is not a good idea.
Q: Can you put sunscreen on and suntanning lotion together?
California Tan makes SPF for outdoor use that has a base of sunless tanning in it. California Tan uses an ingredient called Vita Tan that basically helps to increase your tanning results, and also add the SPF into the product. So it keeps you from over exposing, but it also exhilarates your base tan. I love their SPF; they are really nice. So that's what I usually recommend, and if they want to put something over the top that's fine. People need to realize they need to apply a lot. The SPF is more important outside than the tanning exhilarator, and people just don't use that as much as they should. I know how hard it is, you are like, " I am only out here for two hours so I need to make sure I am not using an SPF because I am going to get the most color I can."
And I know that's what our people usually do. People don't realize is that the sun is only getting stronger and stronger. You need to definitely protect yourself.
I mean you don't really have to go any higher than the 30. I mean people think they have to wear SPF-50 and it really doesn't do anything.
If you put on a SPF, it's going to allow you to stay out in the sun , SPF-4, SPF-15, SPF-20, they are going to allow to stay out in the sun four times longer without overexposing, 15 times longer without over exposing, 20 times longer, that's what the SPF number means. It's just going to allow you to stay out in the sun that much longer, but that does not mean its going to be all day.
If you apply it to your skin continuously, then its going to always going to protect.
