Simply stated, Wyoming is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise. You can mountain climb or ski in the Grand Teton Mountain Range, or fish for trophy size trout in the streams and lakes of this beautiful natural wonderland. I have chosen several destinations of interest below:
Rocky Mountains
Located in the northwestern corner of Wyoming, the Rockies are the premier tourist destination of the state. There are a number of national attractions that exist in the "Cowboy State." Yellowstone National Park with its world famous geyser is truly breathtaking. The Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole Mountain provide many opportunities for snow skiing and water fun. You can experience the old west by horseback or stay at a Wyoming guest ranch.
Casper, Wyoming
The mammoth Bighorn National Park provides endless recreational activities such as fishing, hunting, snowshoeing, skiing, and snowmobiling. The Nicolaysen Museum and Discovery Center abounds with works by local artists. The Fort Casper Museum and Historical Center offers a host of restored Fort Casper buildings, history exhibits, and live festivals and performances. This western museum is opened year round.
Cheyenne, Wyoming
Located in the southeast corner of Wyoming, you will find a number of cultural and natural attractions. The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens boasts a 6,800 square foot greenhouse.; a brilliant array of plant life makes for a peaceful and serene visit. The "Old West" Museum offers a number of exhibits and educational programs reflecting Wyoming's early cattle days. Just a few miles west of Cheyenne, you can visit the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile and Heritage Museum. The museum features the history of missiles and life in the Air Force at the turn of the 21st Century. While in downtown Cheyenne, do not forget to see the Wyoming State Museum and the Wyoming Transportation Museum and Learning Center.
Cody, Wyoming
This area is famous for its tribute to the renowned cowboy "Buffalo Bill" Cody! Its parks and museums are abundant in western history. Buffalo Bill State Park offers unique opportunities for fishing, boating, and camping. You can hike the trails of Trout Creek or Eagle Point Nature Trail. here are also many fun festivities during the spring and fall such as Sheep Mountain Day.
Yellowstone National Park
The Oldest and most well known national park in America, Yellowstone provides fun and adventure for the entire family. Famous for its signature geyser, Old faithful, Yellowstone is also home to thousands of other geysers and hot springs. Across thousands of square miles of untouched wilderness, outdoor activities abound. Horseback riding, stagecoach tours, camping, fishing, and wild-life tours abound.
Dinosaur Museums
Learn about the many dinosaurs who roamed Wyoming millions of years ago! At the Wyoming Dinosaur Center in Thermopiles, you can tour the museum, and then make discoveries of your own by digging for a day at an actual dinosaur fossil dig site. At the Geological Museum in Laramie, you can view the most complete skeleton of an Allosaurus ever found, as well as the skull of Wyoming's state dinosaur, the Triceratops.
