How to Transfer Funds From PayPal to a Bank Account

By Traci Vandermark

  • Overview

PayPal is probably the most well-known forum for Internet commerce. It processes payments for online sellers, auction sites and individuals. Money gets into a PayPal account via direct payments or is deposited there from a bank account or credit card. The process can also work in the other direction: Transferring money from a PayPal account to a bank account is extremely simple.

    • Step 1

Log in to your PayPal account. If you do not have one, register. (Follow the link in Resources.) A basic account is free for individuals.

    • Step 2

At the top of the PayPal page, click on the tab labeled "My Account."
    • Step 3

Click on the tab "Withdraw Funds."
    • Step 4

Under "Withdraw Funds," select "Transfer to Bank Account." At this point, you will be directed to the information for your bank account that you entered when signing up for your PayPal account. If there is a different bank account you want to send your money to, you may add it at this point.
    • Step 5

Enter the dollar amount you wish to transfer to the bank account and select "Continue." You will have one more chance to verify the amount you are sending and the bank you are sending it to. Click "Finish."
    • Skill: Easy
    • Tip: If you want to send money to someone else's bank account, the money first needs to go to his PayPal account, at which point he can send it through to his own account.
    • Warning:
    • Be aware that a transfer of funds from PayPal to a bank account can take up to 3 business days.
